Fireworks on the Thames

Ahh, what better way is there to welcome a new year than by sending loads of fireworks off into the sky? We can’t think of many, which is why celebrating NYE with a dazzling display of fireworks is the way to go.

As Big Ben strikes at midnight, London turns into a palette of colours as fireworks hit the sky and light up the capital. You can buy official tickets to the event. However, there are a few spots around the city where viewing is free.

Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath is a favourite, while Cannon Street and Tower Bridge are both popular hangouts. Wherever you decide to go to get your free firework fix, make sure you arrive early. The best areas fill up quickly.

NYE Cruise

If you don’t fancy watching the fireworks on land, take to the seas (well, the river) and enjoy the displays. Experience luxury treatment for one night with a three-course meal and champagne on tap. Round the evening off with the fireworks display going off right over your head at midnight.

Once the cruise has finished, there’s often a trip to a nearby bar included. Enjoy the rest of the night’s festivities by shaking a leg. If, however, a cruise with dinner isn’t your thing, ramp up the excitement levels with a speedboat ride along the Thames.

The experience lasts 30-minutes, and get you back just in time to watch the display and welcome in the New Year. Enjoy speedboat thrills before chilling to a pretty assortment of colours in the sky.
