The best places for Sunday Lunch in Shoreditch

Our list of the best pubs in London you don't know about covers some of the best pubs to grab Sunday lunch in the city - this time we're concentrating on Shoreditch.

A typical English tradition, everyone should know somewhere they can roll for an indulgent, stodgy, meaty hangover cure. From traditional versions to something a bit fancier, this short but concise list is guaranteed to include one of your future favourite Sunday haunts in Shoreditch, London. Once you've finished lunch, maybe you'd like to check out some of the best bars in Shoreditch, too!

The Princess of Shoreditch

A winner of several awards, the Princess does an unfathomably good Sunday lunch, and definitely a bit more gourmet than your average pub roast. Offering a good choice of meats with fish and vegetarian options, the menu is a mouth-watering read. The desserts are also horribly tempting; we dare you to leave without ordering one! Excellently presented food in a high-end gastro pub atmosphere. Check it out.

Average prices:
(Starters £6.50 – Main course £16.95 – Desserts £6)

Address: 76-78 Paul St, London EC2A 4NE
Phone: 020 7729 9270

The Boundary

A more unusual Sunday menu, the Boundary strays slightly off the traditional lunch path, offering things like beef bourguignon and slow-cooked duck leg in place of the traditional meat and two veg options. Also, after you’ve finished your food you can check out the work of local artist Jude Nwimo, who curates a small art and object sale in the restaurant and bar.

Average prices:
(Two courses for £19.50 – Three courses for £24.50)

Address: 2-4 Boundary St, Shoreditch, London E2 7DD
Phone: 020 7729 1051

The Owl and the Pussycat

A delightfully small lunch menu, the Owl and the Pussycat has just four main course options, two starters and two desserts (saving you from the kind of small decisions that give you a headache after a late Saturday night). Set in relaxed, shabby chic surroundings with exposed brick walls and old mismatched furniture – it has a typical Shoreditch feel.

Average prices:
(Starters £5 – Main course £12 – Dessert £4.50)

Address: 34 Redchurch St, City of London, Greater London E2 7DP
Phone: 020 3487 0088

Situated on the bustling Columbia road, it’s recommended to pre-book if you want to come here for Sunday lunch. You can tell how much of a hip Shoreditch hang out it is from it's website (they also have their own Tumblr featuring instagram-type photos of the venue). The Oak focuses on “freshness, flavour and relaxed attentive service”.

This restaurant brings you a little tase of the Basque Country, and have a special Sunday Roast menu available. With an extensive wine list and pretty awesome staff, you're sure to have a great time here. We went to check it out recently and absolutely loved the little sausages they brought as snacks before the meal. Super nice touch and they were so yummy!
